William 'Billy' Charles Hill, 85, of Elyria passed away peacefully Sunday, March 29, 2026. He was born in Elyria, Ohio to Leonard C. Hill Sr. and Eleanor Marie Taper Hill on January 11, 1941.
After graduating from Elyria High School in 1959, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where we received a Marksmanship Badge for being an Expert Rifleman as well as a Good Conduct Medal. After his tour of duty was complete, he met and married Daisy Victoria Coleman on June 24th, 1967. They were married for 39 years until her death on January 24, 2006.
He was employed by General Motors and retired in 2005. Billy loved to dance, he loved sitting outside listening to music while studying his lottery numbers and shooting pool with his brother. His favorite pastimes were bowling, going to the casino, attending his children's sporting events and being around family. Billy was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his son, Timothy Hill of Oberlin, Ohio, and daughter, Lisa Hill of Elyria, Ohio; two grandsons, Trent (Sharell) Hill and Timothy Hill Jr, of Elyria, Ohio; one granddaughter, Jessica Davis of Springboro, Ohio and 8 great-grandchildren; one brother, Leonard C. Hill Jr., and two sisters, Bobbie J Jackson, and Debra (Glen) McAfee, all of Elyria, Ohio; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Victoria Hill; his parents, Leonard C. Hill Sr. and Eleanor M. Taper-Hill, and a sister, Gloria J. Jackson of Detroit, Michigan.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 632 W. River Rd N., Elyria, Ohio. Service will follow immediately at 11 a.m. with Reverend Calvin Currie officiating. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
