Yokita M Thomas

Yokita M. Thomas, née Willis, 62, peacefully gained her wings on Thursday, July 23, 2026, following a brief illness at Fairview Park Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.

Born on November 16, 1963, in Lorain, Ohio, Yokita was the beloved daughter of the late Joe and Mary Willis. Affectionately known as "Kita" by family and friends, she was raised in Lorain, where she attended Lorain City Schools and formed many lifelong friendships.

Yokita was known for her warm smile, caring heart, and generous spirit. She found joy in traveling, listening to gospel music, and spending time with her beloved dog, Zuri. She had a special way of making others feel loved and valued, and her kindness touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

A devoted caregiver, Yokita dedicated 33 years of service to the Lorain County Board of Developmental Disabilities as an Adult Program Instructor. She also served as an Independent Certified Provider for the State of Ohio. Throughout her career, she enriched the lives of countless individuals with compassion, patience, and unwavering dedication. Her life's work was a true reflection of her servant's heart.

Yokita leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving daughter, Nicole Thomas of Toledo, Ohio; her brother, Joe Willis Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia; her special nephew, Brent Willis of Lorain, Ohio; and a host of extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were blessed by knowing her.

Though her presence will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, kindness, and selfless service will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Yokita's life during visitation on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m., at the Brown-Robinson Funeral Home and Celebration Center, 6075 Middle Ridge Road, Lorain, Ohio 44053.
