Rheta Lorene Staley

Rheta Lorene Staley

July 12, 1952 - January 18, 2023

Rheta Lorene Staley was born in Lorain on July 12, 1952, to Margaret and Willie Staley.

A graduate of Admiral King High School, Rheta had a keen interest for serving and tending to the needs of family and friends. This passion was a natural segway into her chosen vocation, nursing. She received a nursing degree from Lorain County Community College becoming a Registered Nurse. Rheta worked in several medical facilities including Elyria Memorial Hospital and Northcoast Behavioral Health before her retirement in 2012.

Rheta was a proud mother to her only daughter, Tamara Anntronette Staley, who she loved unconditionally. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, playing cards, listening to music, sewing and crafting, do-it-yourself home projects, spending time with friends and family and laughing. Rheta had a kind, generous, nurturing and caring spirit. She had a sense of humor and always had a good joke to make you laugh and smile. She enjoyed hosting family and friends and always had a meal prepared for anyone who stopped by.

Rheta was the devoted and loving caretaker to both of her parents up until the time of her transition. She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Staley.

She leaves to cherish her love, memories, and legacy - her mother, Margaret Staley of Lorain; daughter, Tamara Anntronette Staley of Westerville, Ohio; twin sister, Greta Staley Robertson of Westerville, Ohio; brother, Harold Staley of Akron; niece, Erica (Michael) Taylor of Sugarcreek Township, Ohio; great-nieces, Emersyn Taylor, Emberly Taylor, and niece on the way Baby Girl Taylor, all of Sugarcreek Township, Ohio; uncle,  Elder James 'Bud' (Mary) Branson of Lorain; special cousins, Judy Branson (David) Frederick of Coral Springs, Florida, Beverly Branson Dais of Tamarac, Florida, Lovie Branson of Tamarac, Florida and Stanley (Wanda) Branson of Bolton, Mississippi, and many more loving cousins and friends.
